The Under 15 Hatch competition while not part of Cricket Victoria's official"Pathways" program is an excellent opportunity for those eligible boys who are not in the Pathways program for the season, to still play a quality level of representative cricket... and its on turf!
DVCA U16 lower age boys (and a few exceptional U14 top-age boys) who have performed well in junior rep cricket at U12 and U14 are eligible to try for a team in the U15 RM Hatch Shield competition run by the sub-district clubs on turf during January. This competition is run almost at the same time at the Commonwealth Bank State Championships in U14s and U16s.

The Bundoora Old Paradians Cricket Club (BOPCC) is pleased to announce its continued involvement in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association Hatch Competition for 2010. As the premier Under 15 representative turf cricket tournament in the state, the BOPCC is once again committed to selecting an elite squad of 14 boys to represent the club. The club’s aim is to create a diverse, committed and successful team. The club wants to help grow and develop the best young boys from the region whilst helping them progress through the Victorian Cricket Pathway.
The BOPCC has relocated to AK Lines for season 2009-2010. AK Lines reserve is the premier turf cricket facility in the area with exciting new developments including an upgraded pavilion and brand new practice nets facility comprising both turf and hard wickets.
Players should approach their junior cricket club to participate in the selection process that will initially include three training sessions. Clubs are to submit applications by 2 October 2009, via post to the Secretary BOPCC, 26 Sinclair Ave, Lower Templestowe, 3107 or via e-mail to the following address: tails.17@hotmail.com

BCC has announced dates for Selection Trials for the RM Hatch Shield Under 15 representative squad for 2010. The Hatch Shield is a representative competition run by the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association (VSDCA) for talented Under 15 cricketers. All VSDCA clubs enter a team in the competition, which is held over two weeks in January each year (4-14 January 2010 and consists of 6 matches, plus finals). The Hatch Shield is an excellent stepping stone between junior cricket and Dowling Shield, Premier cricket and beyond. “Hatch” is also an excellent opportunity for young cricketers to gain all-important experience playing on high quality turf pitches and large cricket grounds, against other elite junior cricketers.
We are pleased to announce that the Club has appointed David McKay as Hatch Shield Coach for 2009/2010. David is a Level 2 accredited coach and currently plays Premier Cricket for Essendon Cricket Club.
Selection Trials: (1) Wednesday 21 October [4.30 – 6.30pm] (2) Wednesday 28 October [4.30 – 6.30pm] (3) Wednesday 4 November [4.30 – 6.30pm]
Players should wear a white cricket shirt, tracksuit bottoms or shorts, and runners. They should also bring along their cricket equipment, a drink and sunscreen.
A squad of 14-15 players will be selected after the selection trials. Additional training sessions and practice matches for the final squad will then be scheduled.

The Ivanhoe Cricket Club, as a member of the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association (VSDCA) , will be continuing its participation in the VSDCA R.M. Hatch competition during the 2009/10 season . The Hatch competition is open to boys who are under 15 years of age at the 1st of September 2009 and will be played in the January school holidays. This competition is the premier Under 15 representative cricket tournament in Victoria and is an excellent oppurtunity for elite young cricketers to play against their peers on quality turf wickets. The Ivanhoe Cricket Club is committed to its junior development program and the Hatch competition enables the club to assist the development of the best young talent within the area whilst they play in a professional and team oriented environment.
The team will again this year be coached by Ivanhoe 1st XI player , Matt Rose . The club will soon commence its selection trials for this years team and seeks eligible players from your junior club to participate in the trials.
The boys are required to attend a minimum of 2 trial sessions to be held at Ivanhoe Park, The Boulevard, Ivanhoe ( Melways 31, H9) on the following dates:
(1) Sunday 8 November 10:30am - 12noon; (2) Monday 9 November 6:00pm - 7:30pm; (3) Sunday 15 November 10:30am - 12noon (4) Monday 16 November 6:00pm - 7:30pm.

The Preston Cricket Club is one of the oldest sporting clubs in the northern suburbs having been established in the 1860s. Our RM Hatch Under 15 program has hosted juniors from a variety of local competitions including JIKA (now the Northern Metropolitan Cricket Association), Diamond Valley and Heidelberg & District Cricket Associations. In recent seasons we have also hosted several boys from the Northern Rivers zone and have worked closely with Cricket Victoria representatives from that district. In recent seasons, Preston has been very successful in the Hatch Northern zone, making the finals on several occasions and contributing to the progression of outstanding juniors to premier cricket.
The 2009-10 pre-series training will begin in September 2009. Training will be by invitation only, however, any other boys are more than welcome to try out and we recommend you contact the club for details. Our junior accredited coaches include Jon Hyde (10 years experience in the Hatch program), Stephen Wilson (20 years) and Troy Hill (3 years).
Preston boasts a stable committee and is involved in ongoing discussions with local Cricket Victoria premier clubs with a view to sharing junior development resources and providing a direct link to Premier cricket. All of these factors put Preston in an excellent position to assist the progression of junior cricketers in the north and north eastern suburbs.
