PATHWAYS
Cricket Victoria's Regional Managers work with their respective cricket associations to seek advice on possible nominations for the Pathways program in U14s, U16s and U18s. The DVCA contributes players to two regions - North East Falcons for all players living to the east of Plenty Road in tandem with HDCA; and Northern Cowboys for all players living to the west of Plenty Road in tandem with NMCA (JIKA).

Phases for the squads
Stage 0 - invitations sent to nominations (week beginning 3 August in 2009); forms accepting conditions returned from nominees; training schedule released for September holidays
Stage 1 - Pathways training program runs in September holidays and first cuts made to large squads
Stage 2 - selection trials continue in early-mid October usually at local turf facilities (further cuts made to squads)
Stage 3 - announcement of teams (by 31 October) with training through November & December.
Stage 4 - State Championship competition (mid-January)
Trials (held in September holidays)
Nominees receive a letter of invitation from Cricket Victoria to a regional trial according to their home address. The program is a series of sessions held in the September holidays. After this short trial series both of the initial invited list of Falcons and Cowboys squads gets reduced.

U18s: Monday 11 January 2010 to Sunday 17 January 2010 (in Latrobe Valley and on district 1st & 2nd grounds)
U16s: Monday 18 January 2010 to Sunday 24 January 2010 (on district 1st & 2nd grounds)
U14s: Monday 18 January 2010 to Sunday 24 January 2010 (on district 3rd & 4th grounds)

After the first round of trials preliminary squads for each age group in each region have been reduced to approximately 20-25 players. Note that players can be added by the team coaches at any time into these squads.
